Online status is when a user is connected to a network. Originally, it was used communication equipment when specifying connection mode.

 

When talking about software, it always means "connected to the internet". In MyChat, it term means "connected to the chat server" (it does not matter how — via a local network or Internet). This word is also used for describing chat attendance.

 

For example, "400 online people" means that at this moment, 400 users are connected concurrently.
